Case study: North Hoyle Wind farm
The North Hoyle windfarm is the UK's biggest renewable energy power station. It features an array of 30 windmills which are all located offshore. It can generate upto 60 megawatts of power directly to the national gird.
Advantages:

The UK government plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 60% by 2050, turing to wind energy can help meet this target.

Case study: Oil in Ecuador


In the 1930's, Shell and Chevron-Texaco started drilling in for oil in oriente in 13 million hectares of tropical rainsforest in Ecuador. In the 1970s the local people filed a case against the oil companies for the damage they had caused.In 1996 Texaco agreed to pay a sum of $40 million to cover the environmental damage.
Advantages:

Ecuador's economy grew by 4% after the introduction of oil drilling.
